The missing Nuxt application layer

Shopify provides APIs, CLI tooling, and official application templates. Nuxt modules already help developers call Shopify APIs, but they do not provide the complete structure needed for an embedded app.

Teams still need to decide how authentication works, where webhooks run, how App Bridge reaches the client, how Polaris components are registered, and how the application is deployed.

What the module provides

Shopify App Nuxt packages those recurring decisions into a Nuxt 4 module:

  • Shopify authentication and session handling
  • Webhook registration and processing
  • Embedded app context through App Bridge
  • Polaris component integration
  • A defined boundary for Shopify API calls
  • Deployment configuration and examples

The implementation keeps these paths visible. Engineers can inspect the authentication and API flow instead of depending on hidden setup.

Why we built it

We kept answering the same questions in new Shopify projects: where authentication belongs, how embedded context reaches the UI, and how Shopify communication stays separate from product code.

Recording those decisions in a module gives Nuxt teams a repeatable starting point without forcing every application into the same product architecture.

Repository and preview

The repository shows the working module, application structure, authentication flow, webhook setup, and deployment configuration.

What remains flexible

The module handles Shopify integration concerns. Product routes, data models, business rules, and service boundaries remain application decisions.

That split is deliberate. The starter removes repeated Shopify setup while leaving product architecture visible and replaceable.
